John O’Keefe played his part too for the winners, with brilliant penalty save ensuring the match ended level at normal time and went to extra-time.

Points from Ciaran Joyce and Mike Kelly looked like they would win the match for Castlemartyr in extra-time, but then Casey struck for that late, late goal.

GALWAY

Moycullen and Salthill Knocknacarra will contest the Galway Bon Secours Hospital Senior Football Championship Final after wins over Moutbellew-Moylough and Annaghdown respectively.

Moycullen looked particularly impressive when defeating reigning champions Mountbellew/Moylough on a scoreline of 3-9 to 0-9.

They took control of the tie when Micheal Reilly struck a first-half goal that helped his team into a 1-6 to 0-4 lead at the break.

The defending champions reduced the deficit to two points early in second-half but that was as good as it got for them.

Sean Kelly blasted home a second goal for Moycullen to put them on the front foot again and then Neil Walsh added another layer of gloss to the final score when he hit their third major in injury time.

Salthill’s young team played with maturity beyond their years to defeat Annaghdown by 1-12 to 0-9.

They trailed by two points at half-time, but moved up through the gears at the start of the second half with Cathal Sweeney’s goal giving them a lot of momentum.

Rob Finnerty and Tomo Culhane were especially impressive for the winners, scoring a combined tally of nine points that proved decisive.

KERRY

Kerins O’Rahillys are Kerry Club SFC champions thanks to a nail-biting 0-15 to 0-14 win over Templenoe.

The winners started the match in fine fettle, charging into an early 0-5 to 0-1 lead, but Templenoe fought back to reduce the deficit to a single point by the end of the second quarter.

It remained nip and tuck for the rest of the first half with O’Rahilly’s taking a 0-10 to 0-9 lead into the dressing-room at the break.

Jack Savage’s brilliant free-taking pushed O’Rahilly’s three points clear by the 52nd minute, but Templenoe kept battling away and had a late chance to bring the match to extra-time.

Killian Spillane, Templenoe’s best player on the day, arced in a last-gasp free that looked like it was on its way over the bar only to come back off the post.

2021 Kerry SFC champions, Austin Stacks, were relegated from the senior ranks after a 3-11 to 1-15 defeat to Kenmare Shamrocks in the SFC relegation play-off.

The key phase of the game came in the first half when Kenmare scored three goals in the space of four minutes from Stephen O’Brien, Paul O’Connor, and David Hallissey.

Stacks responded with a goal of their own from Mike O’Donnell, but still had a hill to climb at half-time when they trailed by 3-5 to 1-8.

They did summon up an impressive second-half surge that saw them score five points without reply, but Kenmare defended well in extra-time to hold on for the win that preserves their senior status.

LIMERICK

Newcastlewest and Adare will contest the Limerick SFC Final after wins over Monaleen and Fr. Casey’s respectively.

Reigning champions Newcastlewest were giving a searching examination of their credentials by Monaleen, but but a late Diarmuid Kelly goal proved decisive as they held on for a 1-10 to 0-10 victory.

Adare’s clinical finishing proved decisive against a wasteful Fr. Casey’s team that kicked 16 wides.

The key score of the game came in the 56th minute when substitute Shane O’Connor struck for a goal after good work by Adam Canny.

The final score finished 1-10 to 0-8 in favour of Adare.

WATERFORD

The Nire and Rathgormack will contest the Waterford SFC Final again this year after semi-final victories over Ballinacourty and Gaultier.

The Nire were never really in trouble against a Ballincourty team who had to take to the field without eight players due to a combination of injujry and suspension.

Aaron Ryan set The Nire on their way with an early goal and by the 19th minute they already led by 1-4 to no score.

Ballinacourty reduced the deficit to four points at the break, but when Dylan Guiry scored The Nire’s second goal mid-way through the second half the result was never in doubt.

Waterford captain, Conor Murray’, was Rathgormack’s hero as he scored 2-2 from play in their 3-7 to 0-6 win over Gaultier.

Stephen Curry also goaled for the winners and Jason Curry landed five frees to ensure a comfortable enough win for a Rathgormack team that will now contest a fourth county final in a row.
