Richie Power: A Career in Pictures

September 2002: In his second year as an inter-county minor, Power wins his first All-Ireland title with Kilkenny. The Carrickshock dynamo hit 0-7 in the final win over Tipperary.
September 2003: A year later, Power captains Kilkenny to victory over Galway. Here, 18-year-old Power lifts the Irish Press Cup after scoring 0-9, including the match winner.
September 2004: Power played four years at U21 level, winning All-Irelands in 2004 and 2006 (as captain). Here, here battles with Conor O'Mahony in the 2004 final demolition of Tipperary.
June 2005: Power makes his senior championship debut against Offaly at Croke Park on June 12, 2005. He would go on play 42 championship games over 11 years for Kilkenny.
September 2005: After minor successes in 2002 and 2003 and an All-Ireland U21 win in 2004, Power tastes defeat in the 2005 All-Ireland U21 final against Galway.
September 2006: Power wins the first of eight All-Ireland senior titles. Here, he is pictured celebrating with Henry Shefflin after the final win over Cork. Power started at wing-forward, scoring a point from play. A week later, he adds a second All-Ireland U21 title to his growing list of honours.
September 2007: Power's father, Richie Power Snr., a member of the Kilkenny 1982-'83 jubilee team is presented to the crowd before the 2007 All-Ireland final. Later that day, Richie Junior emulated his father by winning a second Celtic Cross following the annihilation of Limerick.
September 2009: Power collects a fourth successive Celtic Cross. Here, he's pictured surrounded by Tipperary defenders in a classic All-Ireland final.
August 2010: Power jumps for joy after scoring against Cork in the All-Ireland semi-final.
November 2010: Kilkenny may have finally been beaten after four years of utter dominance, but Power is rewarded with an All Star award in November, the first of his career.
August 2011: Richie Power speaks to the media ahead of the All-Ireland final. Power wins a fifth Celtic Cross after the final win over Tipperary and is rewarded with a second All Star.
September 2012: Power celebrates All-Ireland title No. 6 - Kilkenny beat Galway in a replay - with his young son, Ruairí, who was three at the time.
February 2013: Power strikes a free in the Allianz League against Galway. An Allianz League title was the high point of the season for Power and the Cats.
August 2014: Power is tripped by Donal O'Grady in the All-Ireland semi-final over Limerick, a foul that would have big ramifications.
September 2014: Power celebrates scoring a goal in the drawn All-Ireland final against Tipperary.
September 2014: After winning his seventh Celtic Cross following a replay win over Tipp, Power finds the time to console opponent Kieran Bergin.
September 2015: An hour after winning his eighth and final All-Ireland title, having played just 10 minutes all season due to a knee injury, Power plays with his son, Ruairí, on the Croke Park pitch. It's Power's final act in a Kilkenny jersey; he announces his retirement four months later .
