Despite a late Galway rally, Kilkenny were still able to claim victory at Nowlan Park.

Richie Hogan's 0-11 haul was influential for Kilkenny, who lead by 0-13 to 0-10 at the interval. Galway battled after the restart, but Hogan was accurate throughout for the 2016 All Ireland finalists.

Jason Flynn, Shane Maloney, and Joseph Cooney struck scores for Galway, but Kilkenny, with Kieran Joyce impressing held out.

Ollie Walsh was prominent for Kilkenny, who face Waterford in an attractive Allianz League Division 1A clash next weekend.
