Bord Na Mona O'Byrne Cup

WESTMEATH 1-13 KILDARE 1-7

Westmeath advanced to the semi-final stage of the Bord Na Mona O'Byrne Cup following a satisfying success over Kildare at The Downs GAA Club.

Prompted by Joe Halligan's goal Westmeath led by 1-7 to 1-5 at the interval against Kildare, who had Pascal Connell sent off in the 29th minute.

David Slattery had scored a goal for Kildare, but Westmeath took charge after the restart with Ger Egan prominent.

Longford will now face Westmeath in the last four, while Dublin host Meath at Parnell Park on Saturday evening.
