Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup Quarter-Finals

UL 1-15 University of Galway 2-10

DCU Dóchas Éireann 2-12 MTU Cork 0-9

Ciarán Downes last gasp point sealed a hugely satisfying Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup victory for UL, who defeated University of Galway 1-15 to 2-10 at Dangan.

Emmet McMahon kicked some vital scores too for UL, who did enough against the 2022 champions.

Following a keenly contested opening period Maurice Sheridan's outfit went in 2-3 to 0-6 ahead at the interval.

Mark McInerney and Gerard Davoren struck goals for University of Galway, but UL finished the first half strongly.

UL, with Paul Keaney, Eoghan McLaughlin, and substitute Jack Glynn prominent, remained defiant after the restart as Paul Walsh scored an opportunistic goal.

University of Galway trailed late on, but Seán Kelly's brilliant point forced extra-time.

It was tight and tense, but UL advanced to the penultimate round.

DCU Dóchas Éireann, without the injured Rob Finnerty, still had sufficient class to claim a 2-12 to 0-9 win over MTU Cork.

Paddy Christie's charges led by 0-7 to 0-5 at the interval with Matthew Costello contributing five points for the home team.

Shane Walsh and Alex Beirne also landed scores for DCU with Ryan O'Donovan (3) and David Buckley (2) registering points for MTU Cork.

When the action recommenced DCU Dóchas Éireann took control as Jack Bryant and Lorcan O'Dell notched important goals.
