London improved, though, with Henry Walsh's goal giving them hope as the deficit was trimmed down to 1-8 to 1-2 by half-time.

After the restart Michael Maher's outfit caused problems for Cavan with a late Christopher Farley goal narrowing the gap, but the visitors held on.

Tipperary powered to a 2-16 to 0-11 victory over Carlow at FBD Semple Stadium.

Second half goals from Mikey O'Shea and Kevin Fahey were the key scores as Tipperary enjoyed an excellent triumph.

At the break Tipperary were 0-9 to 0-6 ahead, but O'Shea and Fahey struck the goals that mattered.

Sligo staged a strong second half comeback to defeat Waterford 0-15 to 1-11 at Fraher Field.

The home team led by 1-7 to 0-4 at half-time following a 25th minute Tom O'Connell goal.

Dylan Guiry, Dermot Ryan, and Jason Curry were sent off for Waterford, but Sligo, without star forward Niall Murphy, clipped seven points in a row.

Seán Carrabine, Nathan Rooney, Keelan Cawley, and Luke Towey contributed critical scores for Sligo, who eventually prevailed.

In Carrick-on-Shannon Leitrim registered an important 3-9 to 1-11 win over Wexford.

Andy Moran's team led 1-4 to 0-4 at the break as Darragh Rooney scored a 23rd minute goal.

After the restart Martin O'Connor netted a goal for Wexford, who drew level in the 40th minute.

Andy Moran's team, though, grabbed further goals courtesy of Ryan O'Rourke and Conor Cullen to seal a satisfying success.

It sets up an interesting last round clash between Sligo and Leitrim at Markievicz Park on Sunday.
