Dublin's 1974 All-Ireland SFC winning captain Seán Doherty has died.
A cherished figure in Dublin GAA's history, Doherty also won an All-Star in that campaign.
During a glittering career Doherty won three All-Ireland titles, five Leinster SFC medals, and two National Football Leagues.
Dublin GAA chairperson Ken O'Sullivan has paid tribute to Doherty's contribution. "Séan Doherty was a classy full back and a giant of a man at the heart of the Dublin's full back line in the late 60s and the 1970s," O'Sullivan said.
"As an All-Ireland-winning captain, he is an icon in Dublin GAA's history and an inspiration to so many who try to follow in his footsteps.
"The Dublin GAA community is deeply saddened by Seán's passing and we offer our deepest condolences to his family, friends and former teammates at club and county.
"An absolute gentleman. May he rest in peace."
