Without a competitive victory since May, 2018 Sligo finally returned to winning ways at McGovern Park last Sunday.

That important success over London ensures this weekend's Markievicz Park encounter against Antrim carries real significance with the availability of Red Og Murphy a considerable boost.

Antrim enjoyed a triumph themselves over Wexford with Paddy Cunningham a prominent figure on his return to the inter-county arena.

On Saturday, Wexford will be hoping for an improved display when welcoming Carlow.

Paul Galvin's outfit leaked three goals in Glenavy, but Jonathan Bealin and Ben Brosnan carry an attacking threat.

Despite the early dismissal of the prolific Paul Broderick, Carlow still did what was required to eke out the spoils against Wicklow.

In a tight, low scoring encounter Turlough O'Brien's charges prevailed and they will be intent on launching another promotion push.

Even though they summoned gutsy performances, Wicklow and Waterford both suffered opening weekend losses.

Ultimately it means their encounter at Aughrim matters deeply as a second loss would be a severe blow.

In Kilmallock, Limerick, who have started 2020 smartly, host London.

Conceding five goals last weekend, London will hope to be much more resolute with Liam Gavaghan an inspirational figure further up the field.

Billy Lee's diligent work with Limerick ensures hope and expectation is attached once more. Another positive result would leave Limerick in a very healthy position at the outset of February.
