Maggie Farrelly will become the first female referee to referee a men’s County Senior Football Final this weekend when she officiates at the Kiernan's Service Station Cavan SFC Final replay between Gowna and Ramor United.
This is just the latest in a series of firsts for the highly rated Farrelly who has been a real trail-blazer for female referees.
She was also the first woman to referee a men’s inter-county Gaelic Football Match in 2015 when Fermanagh played Antrim in the Ulster Minor Championship.
The following year the Laragh native then took charge of her first senior men’s inter-county game when Fermanagh played St. Mary’s in the Dr. McKenna Cup.
