The public has voted Monaghan’s Jack McCarron the GAA.ie Footballer of the Week.

The Farney County sharp-shooter received 6,973 votes on the GAA’s official Instagram page which placed him ahead of Mayo’s Ryan O’Donoghue (3,558), and Cork’s Stephen Sherlock (3.044).

Jack McCarron (Monaghan)

In his first match after appendix surgery, McCarron saved Monaghan and relegated Dublin with a spectacular individual performance. His haul of 2-6, 1-3 of it from play, included the match winning free converted coolly from 40 metres out in injury-time.

Ryan O'Donoghue (Mayo)

O’Donoghue continues to go from strength to strength. He scored 1-3 for Mayo in their win over Kildare and his play-making ability was also to the fore as he created multiple scoring opportunities for others.

Stephen Sherlock (Cork)

Sherlock was the key man for Cork as they preserved their Division 2 status with a victory over Offaly. He scored nine points, five of them from play, to confirm his status as a key cog in this new-look Rebels team.

Players of the Week are decided based on votes cast by followers of the Official GAA Instagram page.
