Jack O'Connor's Kerry outfit eventually shrugged off Clare's spirited resistance at Austin Stack Park.

Clare were highly competitive throughout an interesting first half with Conal O hAinifein's goal.

That score left Clare trailing by 0-7 to 1-3, but Kerry responded instantly with a Matthew Flaherty point and a goal from Matthew O'Sullivan.

When the interval rolled around Kerry led 1-8 to 1-5 and Clare struck for a second major from Eimhin Courtney nine minutes after the break.

Killian Spillane, Flaherty, Cathal Bambury, and Conor Geaney all nailed points as Kerry closed out the game efficiently.

Extra-time was required at the Gaelic Grounds with Limerick producing a storming finish to defeat Tipperary.

Michael Donovan and Brian Donovan hit two last gasp points to secure a dramatic victory for Limerick, who were 0-13 to 0-10 behind following the first period of extra-time

In an action packed match Willie Connors and Emmet Moloney were sent off for Tipp, while Limerick's Josh Ryan was also red carded.

The teams were deadlocked 0-10 each at the end of normal time, but Limerick stayed cool to carve out an encouraging result.

EirGrid Leinster Under 21 Championship Quarter-Final

LAOIS 2-13 LOUTH 1-8

Sean Moore's attacking class guided Laois to a convincing win at O'Moore Park.

Moore struck 1-8 for Laois, who led by 2-7 to 1-4 at the turnaound despite the dismissal of David Connolly.

Colm Murphy and Moore grabbed Laois' goals after Louth's Ryan Burns had netted early on.

Laois will now face Offaly in an attractive Leinster Semi-Final at Netwatch Cullen Park next Wednesday evening.

EirGrid Ulster Under 21 Championship Preliminary Round

MONAGHAN 2-14 ANTRIM 0-16

Holders Monaghan eked out a valuable victory at The Dub against a committed Antrim team.

Monaghan will now face Derry at the Quarter-Final stage next Wednesday.

The teams were level, 1-6 to 0-9 at half-time with Dermot Gleeson scoring Monaghan's goal.

Seamus McGarry was prominent for the Saffrons, while Odhran Eastwood impressed when the action recommenced.

Antrim edged 0-13 to 1-9 ahead before David Garland's goal for Monaghan.

Barry Kerr hit two important points for Monaghan, but McGarry continued to be accurate as Antrim remained in the hunt.

But in the closing stages Garland and Stephen Finnegan responded for Ciaran McBride's charges.
