In-form Longford netted twice in the second-half to see off holders Dublin and secure back-to-back wins in the Electric Ireland Leinster minor football championship.

Enda McGahern's side took care of Offaly in their opening Group 1 encounter and maintained that strong form with a 3-8 to 1-9 defeat of Dublin.

It will go down as a landmark result for the midlands county, particularly as Dublin were fresh off their own five-goal win over Laois.

Joshua Marsh's goal after five minutes helped Longford to lead by 1-3 to 0-5 at half-time and they kicked on with second-half goals from forward colleagues Oisin Kane and Karl O'Hara.

O'Hara's goal put hosts Longford into a 3-6 to 0-6 lead but St Judes' Hugh O'Neill pulled a three-pointer back for Dublin from the penalty spot.

The Sky Blues finished the game strongly too with points from placed ball expert Donach Magee and Danny McGill but still came up short.

Offaly responded to their Round 1 loss to Longford by overcoming neighbours Laois 2-8 to 0-10 in this evening's other Group 1 encounter.

Cian McNamee's goal was the difference in the first-half and Offaly built on their 1-3 to 0-5 interval advantage with a crucial second goal from Dylan Dunne to seal the win.

In Group 2, there were wins for Louth and Kildare meaning that both sides possess impressive 100 percent records after two rounds.

Louth trailed by a point at half-time but turned in a powerful second-half performance to beat the Royal County by 1-10 to 0-11.

Joe Hanlon and Cillian McQuillan were prominent in Louth's attack while Brendan Cassidy struck their 57th minute goal, leaving them five points ahead at that stage.

Meath pulled back late points from Pat Crawley and Evan Kelly but ultimately slipped to a second defeat.

Kildare, beaten in last year's Leinster final, edged out Westmeath by 1-12 to 2-6. Westmeath led at half-time thanks in part to Christoir Ormsby's goal and William Scahill added a second major early in the second-half to move four points clear, 2-3 to 0-5.

But Kildare came alive in the final 20 minutes or so with a series of points and Paddy Ryan's 56th minute goal was the game's decisive score.

Wicklow hung tough to win the only Group 3 game, beating Wexford 0-9 to 0-8.

The scores were tied at half-time, 0-5 to 0-5, though Wicklow put three points between the teams in the final quarter - a significant advantage in a low-scoring game.

Wexford reduced that deficit to the minimum late on and came close to grabbing an equaliser at the death, meaning that Patrick Small's point for Wicklow proved the winner.
