Tailteann Cup Round 2A
Saturday May 23
London v Laois, McGovern Park, 2pm
This promises to be a revealing match for two teams, who performed well in Round One.
Prompted by the brilliant Evan O'Carroll, Laois negotiated the Wicklow hurdle with the minimum of fuss. Justin McNulty's efforts with Laois are worthy of the utmost respect, and Michael Maher is carrying out diligent work in London, too.
That was perfectly illustrated in a convincing triumph over Waterford. Liam Gallagher is a capable performer for London, who also impressed in Division Four of the Allianz Football League.
Progress is being made with homegrown talent contributing. A match spent in the company of Laois will really show how far London have travelled.
Offaly v Down, Glenisk O'Connor Park, 6pm
Dyland Hyland's splendid kicking display guided Offaly to a morale boosting win over Clare in Ennis.
Now, a home match beckons against the Tailteann Cup favourites, who overcame an understrength Leitrim in comfortable fashion.
Offaly were resolute against Clare and finished strongly in a well contested match. Daniel Guinness and Ceilum Doherty continue to impress for Conor Laverty's charges, who will be striving to secure a place in the last eight.
Sunday May 24
Fermanagh v Wexford, Brewster Park, 1pm, GAA+
Boosted by fine Round One triumphs, Fermanagh and Wexford will be intent on earning a place in the quarter-final.
In the league, Wexford were promoted, while Fermanagh endured relegation from Division Three of the Allianz Football League.
The Round One opener on January 24 proved to be a valuable victory for Wexford, who triumphed in Enniskillen with Seán Nolan contributing six points.
John Hegarty's team have won back to back promotions, but they will know a demanding assignment awaits. Darragh McGurn and Conor Love have been effective for Fermanagh, who were encouraged by the success over Longford.
Antrim v Tipperary, Corrigan Park, 3.15pm
The splendid Seán O'Connor was the star turn as Tipperary carved out a fine away win over Sligo at Markievicz Park.
Now, a trip to Belfast beckons for a clash with Antrim, who edged a high scoring epic against Carlow.
Pat Shivers, Niall Burns, and Dominic McEnhill contributed important scores for Antrim, who have responded well following a shaky start in Division Four of the Allianz Football League.
Niall Fitzgerald's youthful Tipperary outfit will be looking to Emmet Moloney and Paudie Feehan for inspiration again.
Tailteann Cup Round 2B
Saturday May 23
Wicklow v Limerick, Echelon Park, 4pm
A repeat of the 2025 Tailteann Cup Semi-Final when Limerick secured victory.
The stakes are piled high for two counties with the loser exiting the competition.
Josh Ryan nailed crucial frees as Limerick staged a remarkable recovery, having fallen seven points behind in the second half.
Dean Healy remains an influential figure for Oisín McConville's team, who lost to Laois in Round One following a defiant Leinster SFC display against Dublin.
Clare v Longford, Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chíosóg, 5pm
Clare weren't sufficiently clinical when Offaly visited Ennis in Round One.
Paul Madden's team performed soundly against Kerry in Munster, but they will be striving to avoid a third Championship loss at home in 2026.
Mark McInerney and Aaron Griffin are capable forwards for Clare, but Longford will be hopeful about impressing.
In the narrow defeat to Fermanagh, Longford had productive moments with Dylan Farrell and Matthew Carey sharp in attack.
Leitrim v Carlow, Heartland Credit Union Páirc Seán MacDiarmada, 5.30pm
Injuries have disturbed Leitrim since a passionate and purposeful Connacht SFC performance against Galway.
Goalkeeper Killian Gaffey did kick five points from placed balls against Down, while Mark Diffley remains an influential figure for Steven Poacher's team.
Lee Walker and Conor Crowley were in good scoring form for Carlow, who lost a thriller to Antrim last time out.
Sunday May 24
Waterford v Sligo, Cappoquin Logistics Fraher Field, 1pm
It has been a demanding spell for Waterford and Sligo, who clash in Dungarvan.
Alan Dunwoody and Michael O'Brien carry a scoring threat for Waterford, who endured a heavy defeat to London.
Beaten by Leitrim in Connacht, Sligo subsequently lost to Tipperary in the Tailteann. Niall Murphy and Pat Spillane did clip four points each for Sligo.
There is talent in the Sligo panel, but this could be an awkward assignment.
