The second round of group fixtures carries severe implications in a 12 team Electric Ireland Fitzgibbon Cup.

Earning a quarter-final berth is the mission so the margin for error is slim.

Heavily defeated by an accomplished UL outfit last week, Maynooth University will be eager to cause an upset against DCU Dóchas Eireann in Group A.

Michael Brennan struck six points for Maynooth, including three from play, against UL, while Darragh McCormack netted a late consolation goal.

DCU Dóchas Eireann reached the final in 2025 and featured plenty of talented hurlers such as Kildare's Cian Boran and Offaly's Donal Shirley.

In Group B, MTU Cork, buoyed up by an excellent win over UCC, host Garda College.

Diarmuid Healy mined four points for MTU Cork in that triumph, while Mikey Finn was razor sharp from frees and play.

Alan Walsh and Ryan Deasy also contributed for MTU Cork, who know that Garda's panel features talented players.

Kilcormac-Killoughey's Daniel Hand and Na Fianna's Donal Ryan are included in the Garda squad.

UCD, who were eventually beaten by University of Galway in a lively encounter at Dangan, welcome TUS Midwest to Belfield.

David Purcell, Dara Purcell, and splendid Westmeath forward David Williams are key figures for UCD.

TUS Midwest will be striving to make an impact with Tipperary's Seán Kenneally and Cloney-Quin's Callum Hassett involved.

Oisín O'Farrell's goal laden display for Mary I ensured SETU Waterford left Limerick empty handed.
So, a critical tussle with ATU Galway beckons.

Luke Codd clipped 1-5, while Willie Beresford and Cathal King were also prominent.

John Cooney, Rory Burke, and Oisín Lohan are capable performers for ATU Galway.
