Tommie and Teresa Kenoy and Sheila Carney

The group talk about their earliest memories of their local clubs; Kilmore in Tommie and Teresa’s case and Elphin in Sheila’s. They talk of their family’s involvement and remember what facilities were like. Tommie gives an account of the history of GAA in the area, including the initial foundation of the club, its subsequent demise and eventually reformation. They talk about their involvement in playing and administration over the years and Tommie describes the nature of his involvement in certain controversies, including the changes to Rule 42 which led to the opening of Croke Park to soccer and rugby. The group highlight the social aspect of the GAA, its amateur status, the role of the club in their community and the loyalties they all hold to their club and to their county.
