Pauric Owens

Pauric Owens discusses the role of the GAA in his life and his involvement in the Association from when he was a player to his different administrative jobs in Lavey GAA. He discusses the history of the club and how he became involved in administration, first becoming public relations officers before becoming secretary of the Lavey Ladies club. Pauric describes the relationship between the ladies and men’s clubs and the differences in his roles with the two clubs. He notes the work done by many local people and talks about the characters of the club. Pauric discusses his career in the media, starting out in print media before moving on to television. He describes the type of work he does working for different television stations like TV3 and Setanta. He talks about how he always had an interest in media and how his interest in the GAA influenced this. Towards the end of the interview Pauric discusses what the GAA means to him and highlights the important place it holds in local communities.
