Pat Fanning

Pat Fanning was President of the GAA from 1970 to 1973. In this interview he talks about his involvement with his club Mount Sion where he held the position of life president. He talks about the importance of the GAA in his life, the influence of the Christian Brothers on him. he also discusses Waterford hurling scene in the 1940-1950s and mentions his time playing for the senior panel. He speaks about his presidency of the GAA and about presiding over the congress which lifted the ban on foreign games. He also discusses the relationship between the GAA in the south and the north of the border. He also talks about the history of the GAA and its role in Irish life.
