Fiona Casey

Fiona Casey talks about growing up in Causeway, north Kerry - a hurling enclave that has always been proud of its traditions. She recalls the successful local team of the 1970s and the joy she got from that. Causeway’s fortunes declined but the passion for hurling remained strong despite the fact that Kerry is predominantly a footballing county. Later Fiona became involved in setting up a camogie club in Causeway and she soon had a strong administrative role. The game has been making small progressive steps, enlisting the help of media, GAA bodies and hurling people from outside counties who are based in Kerry to ensure that camogie has a strong chance of gaining a permanent foothold in the county.
