Tipperary v Waterford - Allianz Hurling League Division 1A Round 1
Waterford's Maurice Shanahan out for six weeks
Maurice Shanahan, the Waterford attacker, will miss his county's four remaining group games in Division IA of the Allianz Hurling League through injury.
Shanahan, who played 67 minutes of Saturday's defeat to Tipperary, scoring a point from play, sustained an ankle ligament injury in the game at Semple Stadium, Thurles.
The Lismore clubman, who is the younger brother of former Waterford star and current selector Dan, will be out of action for four to six weeks as a result.
It means that Waterford manager Derek McGrath will have to make at least one alteration to the team named for Sunday's Allianz Hurling League Division IA clash with Galway.
McGrath had released an unchanged team from the side that lost to Tipperary on Saturday night.
The Waterford management are also awaiting the results of a scan on Séamus Prendergast's hand.
There are fears that the Ardmore veteran could be sidelined for a spell if he sustained a broken hand after coming on as a 58th minute sub against Tipperary.
