Mayo name team to face Roscommon

Mayo have announced their team to play Roscommon in the semi-final of the Connacht GAA Football Championship at Dr. Hyde Park on Sunday (2pm, live on RTÉ).

James Horan, the Mayo manager, has made three changes from the side that lined out in the 4-18 to 0-8 quarter-final win over New York on May 4.

The most notable change is Alan Freeman's introduction at full-forward in place of team captain Andy Moran, who wore the No. 14 jersey at Gaelic Park but has to be content with a place on the bench on Sunday. Lee Keegan will captain the team in his absence.

Elsewhere, Conor O'Shea has been handed his first championship start at centre-forward, with his older brother, Séamus, dropping back to midfield in place of the injured Jason Gibbons, where he will partner the third of the O'Shea brothers, Aidan. It is the first time the three O'Shea boys from Breaffy will line out together in a championship game for their county.

The final switch sees Ger Cafferkey, who was ruled out of the trip to the Big Apple with an injury, drafted back into the team at full-back in place of Kevin Keane.

There is no room in the side for former Connacht rugby star Gavin Duffy, who was a surprise addition to the Mayo panel last month, although he may yet be included in the match day 26, which has not yet been revealed by Horan.

Roscommon named their team on Wednesday.
