Louth include returning Fanning

Louth manager Peter Fitzpatrick has opted to name the returning Michael Fanning on his Louth team for the Leinster GAA Championship encounter with Carlow in Portlaoise on Sunday.

The return of the Naomh Mairtin man from Australia means there is a re-shuffle in the Louth defence with Dessie Finnegan reverting to left corner back.

Cooley man Brian Donnelly gets the nod over Ronan Carroll as Paddy Keenan's midfield partner while up front, Mattock Rangers' David Reid is rewarded for his recent good form with a start on the '40'.

Shane Lennon takes his place on the edge of the square following an injury layoff and is joined in the full forward line by the experienced JP Rooney and the in-form Derek Maguire.

Mattock Rangers' Mark Brennan is an injury absentee from Fitzpatrick's plans as the Collon man has a back injury that requires further treatment.

Louth (SF v Carlow): S Connor; D Burne, A Hoey, D Finnegan; R Finngean, M Fanning, L Shevlin; P Keenan, B Donnelly; D Crilly, D Reid, A Reid; D Maguire, S Lennon, JP Rooney.
