Limerick to appoint Horan as new football boss
Maurice Horan is expected to be confirmed as the new Limerick football manager next week.
Horan, the former Mayo and Limerick footballer, was proposed for the position of Senior and U21 boss at a meeting of the Football Board Executive on Wednesday night following interviews for the position last week.
Former Nemo Rangers boss Ephie Fitzgerald is expected to form part of his backroom team.
Horan's name has to be ratified at a meeting of the Football Board Executive next Tuesday before going before a full meeting of the County Board for rubber-stamping by the county's Clubs.
Horan beat off stiff competition from Tom McGlinchey for the nomination to take over from Mickey Ned O'Sullivan.
Mayo native Horan is no stranger to Limerick football, having served as a selector under O'Sullivan last year and as U21 manager.
