Joyce set to rejoin Galway panel

Nicky Joyce has been invited to re-join the Galway senior football panel, manager Alan Mulholland has confirmed.

Joyce, the first cousin of veteran forward Pádraic, did not feature for the Tribesmen under former manager Tomás Ó Flatharta in 2011.

However, Mulholland has recalled the experienced Killererin man, who is expected to be back in training with the county in the coming weeks.

Joyce, a three-time Connacht GAA Championship winner, was given a personal training plan before Christmas and could feature in the early stages of Galway's Allianz League Division II campaign.

"We want to have him with us in the panel so hopefully he will be in a position to put in the effort," Mulholland said.

Mulholland, meanwhile, will oversee his new charges in competitive action for the first time tonight (Wednesday) when Galway face Sligo IT in the opening round of the Connacht FBD League in Ballyhaunis (6.30pm).
