John Allen to speak at National Games Development Conference

Former Cork and Limerick hurling manager John Allen is to speak at this weekend's Liberty Insurance Games Development Conference in Croke Park.

Allen, who guided Cork to All-Ireland hurling glory in 2005 and brought Limerick a first Munster Championship in 16 years last summer, will speak on the topic, 'Getting the best out of the child or adult - the fundamentals are the same'.

Following on from the initial cycle of Child, Youth and Adult Conferences in 2010-2012, the focus will return to issues related to the Child Player (aged 4-12 years) this year and the theme of 'Inspiring Children: Fostering a Love of Gaelic Games'.

The conference, which will be held on this Saturday, January 11 in Croke Park, has already exceeded 500 registered delegates.

The first GAA Researcher's Forum will precede the conference on Friday evening, January 10 and will feature some of Ireland's leading researchers representing the following institutions:

The forum will be chaired by Pádraig Ó Céidigh (Chair of the GAA Research Committee) and will be an opportunity for researchers from Ireland and overseas to outline their research and why it is important for coaches to take heed of their work.

The forum is open to all registered Conference delegates.
