Irish Daily Mail Fitzgibbon Cup Round-Up
There was plenty of action in the Irish Daily Mail Fitzgibbon Cup today, with UCD and DIT securing wins, while the meetings of Mary Immaculate College and UCC and GMIT and NUIG finished in draws.
UCD sealed their place in the quarter-finals with a 1-16 to 1-10 win over DCU at the DCU Sportsgrounds. UCD led by 1-9 to 0-8 at the break thanks to a first half goal from Wexford's Jack Guiney.
DCU got back into the game, and trailed by just a point at one stage when Mark Aylaward hit the back of the UCD net, but the Belfield out fit regained their advantage with the help of a couple of Noel McGrath frees to escape with a six-point win in the end.

Meanwhile, Dublin inter-county star David Treacy scored 1-3, including an excellent first half goal, for DIT in their surprise victory over UL at the Parnells GAA Club in Coolock.
There was plenty of drama in the UCC-Mary I Group A game. The Limerick outfit led by 0-10 to 1-6 at the break thanks to six frees from John Conlon, while Brian Hartnett hit the goal for the Leesiders.
UCC forged ahead by three points in the closing stages, but Mary I hit back with a late equalising goal, Luke O'Farrell securing his side a draw by grabbing a goal after UCC goalkeeper Darren McCarthy had saved well from Declan Hannon.
In the final game played this afternoon, NUIG and neighbours GMIT drew 2-13 to 2-13 in a very close affair at Dangan.
There was one game in Group B, with Cork IT beating Carlow IT by 4-15 1-10 at the CIT Sportsgrounds in Bishopstown.
