Hurling and Football Teams of the Week

Each Monday for the rest of the summer, GAA.ie will select the best team of the week from the GAA Hurling and Football Championships.

This week's selections are outlined below and and can be seen in full at the Team of the Week section on GAA.ie, along with the selections from previous weeks in this year's championship.

After delivering a fairly emphatic response to their Leinster final defeat to Galway, it is little surprise that Kilkenny lead the way with six players on the hurling team of the week.

Henry Shefflin, Shane Walsh and Colin Fennelly form a lethal inside forward line, while Tommy Walsh and Seán Óg Ó hAilpín are rewarded for excellent displays in the half-back line.

After a busy conclusion to the Qualifiers, this week's football selection was once again a tough one. Down lead the way with four representatives after beating Tipperary - and the six-day turnaround - while Kerry, Kildare and Laois are just behind with three players each on the team.
