Family Funzone Open for Bumper Croke Park Weekend
The onset of the All-Ireland series of the GAA Football Championship at Croke Park this weekend will see the Davin Stand Car Park taken over by the new Family Funzone with free family fun for all those attending the games on both Saturday and Sunday.
The roll out of this new initiative for the recent Leinster football final proved to be a resounding success with no fewer than 10% of the 70,000 attendance passing through the new zone.
In addition to getting the chance to take photos with the Sam Maguire Cup there will be a host of other family orientated fun activity on offer.A number of interactive games will be in place to test the skills of budding young footballers and there will be a festive feel with balloon modelers, prizes and give-aways, novelty games, outdoor catering and a DJ.
There will also be guest analysis and meet and greet with some famous faces from some of the counties involved over the two days.
GAA President Liam Ó Néill urged supporters - young and old - to drop in on the zone and make the most of what should be a weekend to remember.He said: "The new location for our Family Funzone proved to be very popular with supporters attending the Leinster football final with 7,000 passing through over the course of the day.
"This weekend is one we are all looking forward to thanks to the prospect of four exciting games and the activities in the funzone are organised to add value and fun to the day for the large number of families who attend our games.
"We hope it adds to their enjoyment of their day out at Croke Park and we look forward to making it available not only this weekend, but also for the four semi-finals in the remainder of the GAA Football and Hurling Championships."
The Family Funzone will take place in the Davin Car Park, next to the Stadium on Saturday from 3.00-6.30pm and on Sunday from 12.00-3.30pm.Access to the new funzone will be off Nth Circular Road, just beyond Gill's pub and from the Russell Street Bridge entrance.
Activities in the Family Funzone are free of charge and accessible by all match day ticket holders.
