Dublin face Galway in Round Towers challenge

Jim Gavin's Division I finalists Dublin will compete against Alan Mulholland's Galway this Saturday, April 20, in an inter-county challenge that will herald the opening of Round Tower GAA Club's newly developed state-of-the-art playing facilities in Clondalkin.

The Tribesmen will provide stern opposition for a Dublin side that has been prolific throughout the 2013 league campaign. Throw in is at 7pm.

The Senior Football inter-county challenge will herald the opening of Monastery Road, Round Tower GAA Club's new premier sporting facility that encompasses a new floodlit playing pitch, floodlit all-weather synthetic playing surface and a 23 metre long hurling skills wall.

Tony Delaney, Round Tower GAA club chairman comments: "Round Tower GAA Club are delighted to host two of the country's premier footballing teams for this historic and special occasion. In particular, we're enormously proud to welcome Clondalkin native Jim back to Clondalkin as manager of the Dublin footballers for this special occasion. All GAA and sports supporters are welcome to Monastery Road to mark the occasion."

Round Tower GAA Club was founded in 1884, the year of the founding of the GAA, and it was Michael Cusack, founder of the GAA, who inspired Clondalkin locals to establish the club and name it after the area's most historic and prominent monument.

Tickets for Saturday's match are priced at EUR10 for adults, concessions are priced at EUR5 and children under 16 have free admission.

Transport serving Clondalkin, within a few minutes' walk of the ground, includes the 13, 51, 76 and 151 buses. The Luas Red Line Red Cow stop is ten minutes walk from Monastery Road.
