Diver appointed to Donegal backroom team

Former Donegal footballer Damien Diver has been appointed to his native county's backroom team to help improve the team's strength and conditioning.

Diver, who played alongside new Donegal manager Jimmy McGuinness, says he is looking forward to the job and has already begun some of the ground work.

"I'm over the moon to be asked," said the Ardara man.

"When you don't win anything as a player this is almost like a second chance of helping the side - it's the very next best thing to actually being out there.

"You miss that extra bit of buzz that goes along with championship day with the county. I'll be involved with the strength and conditioning aspect of things in the south of the county and I'll liaise with Jim."
