Cork's Paudie O'Sullivan suffers suspected broken leg

Cork hurler Paudie O'Sullivan suffered a suspected broken leg when playing for Imokilly last night in the Cork Senior Hurling Championship.

The full-forward, a native of Cloyne, was lining out for the divisional side against Cork IT in Carrigtwohill when he went down in the seventh minute suffering with what looked like a very serious injury.

O'Sullivan had been competing to double for a ball in the air, when he came down awkwardly on his leg.

He was treated on the pitch and was then transferred to hospital by ambulance. Both teams agreed to call off the match following the incident. He will have an operation in hospital this morning.

It is suspected that O'Sullivan, 24, has a broken tibia (shin bone) and fibula (calf bone), which will almost certainly rule him out of Cork's entire championship campaign.

Cork's opening Munster Championship clash is the provincial semi-final against either Clare or Waterford on Sunday, June 23.
