Brendan O'Driscoll RIP
Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael Criostóir Ó Cuana has offered his condolences and those of the Association to the family of Kerry club footballer Brendan O'Driscoll who passed away on Wednesday at Cork University Hospital.
Brendan collapsed unchallenged 10 minutes into the second half of Annascaul's West Kerry championship match at Lispole on Sunday and never regained consciousness.
28 years of age, the talented sportsman who also played with the divisional West Kerry team, had scored 1-1 of his team's tally in last weekend's game.
The GAA President said: "We offer our heartfelt condolences to Brendan's family at this unimaginably difficult time.
"Brendan was in his prime and a noted footballer and his sudden loss will be felt sorely by all who knew him but most importantly by his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them."
The GAA President also offered his sympathies to the families of Garry O'Mahoney (Kerry) and Michael Kelly (Kilkenny) who died on Monday and Wednesday respectively.
Garry was the Kerry goalkeeper in 1955 for their All-Ireland final win over Dublin. The John Mitchells' clubman also played in the 1954 defeat to Meath.
Michael captained Kilkenny to their 1957 success over Waterford - the county's first title win in a decade - playing alongside respected names such as Ollie Walsh and Paddy Buggy, who would later go on to serve as GAA President.
He also featured on a Bennettsbridge team which won seven county titles.
