ANTRIM

Neil McManus inspired Cushendall to a 1-20 to 1-15 win over Loughiel in the Bathshack Senior Hurling Champoinship.

He finished with a personal tally of 12 points and consistently came up trumps at key stages in the match for the victors.

Loughiel started the game more impressively, but Francis McCurry’s goal for Cushendall undid much of that good work and dragged his team back into the contest.

Loughiel led by 0-11 to 1-7 at half-time but then only managed one point in the first 19 minutes of the second half as Cushendall really hit their stride. McManus was the main man in the decisive phase of the game, converting a series of frees and scoring an outrageous over the shoulder point from play.

A James McNaughton goal briefly threatened a Loughiel comeback, but Cushendall held on comfortably enough in the end.

St John’s made it two wins from two in the after defeating Naomh Éanna by 2-30 to 0-14. Conor Morgan made a return to action for the winners after a year out with a ruptured cruciate.

Oisin McManus did much of the damage for St. John’s, scoring 12 points, while both Ruairi Galbraith and Michael Dudley scored 1-3 in what was a comfortable victory for the Belfast side.

Reigning Clare SFC champions, Éire Óg, looked good when booking their place in this year’s Quarter-Finals by defeating 2018 and 2019 champions St. Joseph’s, Milltown, by 3-11 to 0-13. The losers are now very much in a relegation dog-fight after losing their opening two games.

In the other Group 1 game Joe McGann starred for St. Breckan’s in their 0-14 to 1-7 win over Corofin, scoring six points.

A late goal from Cathal McInerney was the key score as Cratloe defeated Kilmihil by 1-13 to 1-8, a result that also seals their place in the quarter-finals.

CAVAN

Defending champions Ramor United maintained their perfect start in the Cavan SFC, defeating Butlersbridge by 0-10 to 0-6.

They scored the first four points of the match and stretched their advantage to seven points midway through the second-half courtesy of a clinical Liam Brady finish. Butlersbridge did manage to score the last three points of the match, but it was too little, too late.

Cavan Gaels also made it two wins in as many weeks by easing to a comfortable 1-20 to 0-4 victory over an outgunned Mullahoran. County star Gearoid McKiernan was the main man for the winners, scoring 1-5.

Killygarry also made it back to back wins by overcoming Ballinagh by 1-13 to 1-6. An Oisin Brady first-half goal gave them early momentum and points from Darragh Lovett, David Talbot, and Enda Gallen made the game safe in the second-half.

Meanwhile, on the football front, Carbery sealed their place in the Cork Premier SFC Quarter-Finals thanks to a hard-fought 0-16 to 0-15 win over Duhallow in the Division/Colleges Final.

DONEGAL

Reigning champions St Eunan’s enjoyed a comfortable Donegal SFC victory over Bundoran on a scoreline of 1-21 to 1-6.

It was one-way traffic from the start with a palmed Eoin McGeehin goal helping the winners into a 1-12 to 0-3 lead. Adam McGlone struck back for Bundoran goal, but a comeback was never likely as St. Eunan’s eased to victory.

Glenswilly struck for goals at the right time to carve out a 2-12 to 0-13 win over St. Naul’s. A Ruairi Crawford goal helped the winners into a 1-8 to 0-3 half-time lead after they’d made the most of the wind at their backs.

St. Naul’s came back strongly in the second-half, but a superb second goal by Glenswilly’s Jack Gallagher made the game safe with Michael Murphy pulling the strings for the winning team.

A brilliant Oisin Gallen goal helped MacCumhaill’s to a 1-14 to 0-10 win over Four Masters. Picking up the ball just inside the opposition ’45, Gallen swerved his way through a series of tacklers before finishing emphatically to the bottom corner.

Andrew Kelly and Michael Langan were the stars for St. Michael’s as they defeated Milford by 1-17 to 0-7. Corner-forward Kelly scored 1-4 while Langan hit five points.

Ballymun led by a point at half-time and stretched that advantage to three early in the second-half, but then Colm Basquel brough the teams level with the first goal of the match.

Ballyboden then took charge of the game as further goals from Ryan Basquel, Warren Egan, and James Holland gave them an unassailable advantage.

Cormac Costello claimed a dramatic 3-16 to 3-14 win for Whitehall Colmcilles over Castleknock by scoring a goal directly from a free deep in injury-time.

Castleknock led by 1-7 to 0-9 at half-time and the momentum swung over and back in the second-half as five goals were scored. Costello’s late free looked like a chance to snatch a draw for Whitehall, but instead it was somehow allowed to loop into the net.

Defending champions Kilmacud Crokes weren’t at their best when beating Ballinteer St. John’s by 0-12 to 0-8, but still did enough to get the job done and seal a place in the Quarter-Finals with one match left to play in the round robin phase.
