The Fermanagh standard bearers had caused the Monaghan outfit plenty of problems, but Scotstown remained composed to advance to the quarter-final stage.
Gaoth Dobhair, prompted by Odhran Mac Niallais, enjoyed a productive afternoon at MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey beating Naomh Conaill by 0-17 to 1-7 in the Dongeal SFC Final.
Mac Niallais registered eight points, while Cian Mulligan, Daire O'Baoill, and Kevin Cassidy also impressed.
Ciaran Thompson's goal in the dying embers was merely a consolation for Naomh Conaill.

HURLING
Timmy Hammersley nailed 0-12 as Clonoulty-Rossmore secured their first Tipperary title since 1997 at Semple Stadium defeating Nenagh Eire Og by 0-23 to 2-13.
With seven minutes remaining a Paddy Murphy goal edged Eire Og a point in front, but Clonoulty-Rossmore finished strongly.
Inevitably the in form Hammersley was involved as Clonoulty-Rossmore delivered in style when the issue was delicately poised.
Gorey club Naomh Eanna beat St Martin's in the Wexford SHC Final by 2-11 to 0-13.
Conor McDonald was the hero for Naomh Eanna finishing with a 2-1 haul and the winners were able to absorb some pressure from St Martin's.
Glenealy, with Leighton Glynn still going strong, earned glory in Wicklow, while Coolera/Strandhill are the new Sligo champions.
