eir sport announced details of its Allianz Leagues coverage for 2019 on Tuesday.

eir sport announced details of its Allianz Leagues coverage for 2019, while also confirming it will broadcast two games from the Lidl Ladies National Football League. In total eir sport will broadcast fifteen live games in the coming months with up to three live matches available to GAA fans some weekends. The coverage begins on January 26th on the home of live GAA on Saturday nights under lights.

Mayo sharp-shooter Cillian O’Connor, Limerick’s All-Ireland winning hurling captain Declan Hannon and Dublin ladies star Niamh Collins, were joined by eir sport’s presenting and punditry team and eir sport Managing Director Susan Brady at eir Headquarters today for the announcement.

The coverage all gets underway on January 26th when Liam Sheedy takes charge of the Tipperary hurlers for the first time in serious action in his second stint in charge as they face Clare at Semple Stadium. It’s a similar story in Castlebar as Mayo’s footballers are led by James Horan in his second spell as manager against Roscommon.

The following Saturday, February 2nd, three reigning All-Ireland champions can all be seen in action on eir sport. There is a double-header from Croke Park as the Dublin ladies footballers take on Donegal while their male counterparts face Galway. That’s one of four live games featuring Jim Gavin’s side to be broadcast this season including games against their biggest rivals in recent years, Kerry, Mayo and Tyrone. The Limerick hurlers’ home game against Tipp is also live for eir sport viewers.

The live action then continues on eir sport right up to St. Patricks’ weekend. The coverage will be fronted by Marie Treasa Ní Cheallaigh, Anna Geary, Damian Lawlor and Conor Morris with commentary from Mike Finnerty and Liam Aherne. Football pundits include Senan Connell, Billy Joe Padden, Marc Ó Sé, Michael Meehan, Marty Clarke and Aaron Kernan while the hurling analysts’ team will be made up of Tommy Walsh, Eoin Kelly and Seamus Hickey.

Also on Wednesday evenings, eir sports’ weekly highlights show Allianz Leagues Reloaded returns at 7pm with the inclusion of former Kerry footballer, Kieran Donaghy as a regular guest.

All of the coverage will be sponsored by Allianz who have come on board as Official Broadcast Sponsor.

Speaking at the announcement, eir sport Managing Director Susan Brady, said: “eir sport has been the home of Allianz Leagues coverage under lights since 2005 and we’re delighted to offer GAA fans more choice and content than anywhere else on Saturday nights. eir sport is the only place to see exclusive live coverage from the Allianz Leagues on Saturdays. _

“We’re also delighted to have reached this agreement with the Ladies Gaelic Football Association to broadcast two games from the Lidl Ladies National Football League this February. We began broadcasting games from the competition last year and the games were very popular amongst our viewers, so it was only natural we would look to show games again in 2019.”

The GAA’s Commercial & Stadium Director Peter McKenna added:“eir sport have been a great partner to the GAA and this will be our fifteenth season to show live coverage of the Allianz Leagues on Saturday nights. That has undoubtedly had a major impact on the popularity of the games under lights and has added to the sense of occasion around the matches. It’s great to see this long-term relationship continue and I look forward to the coverage.”

The LGFA’s Chief Executive Officer Helen O’Rourke commented: “eir sport were great to work with in 2018 and we’re delighted to see the relationship continue into 2019. It offers us the opportunity for even more exposure to our games to a television audience. It’s great to see female talent represented so strongly on the side-lines and on the pitch in its coverage.”
