Antrim
Reigning champions Creggan eventually saw off the challenge of St. Galls in the Northern Switchgear SFC, running out 1-9 to 2-2 winners.
Trailing by a point at half-time, Creggan came good in the second-half, with late points from Sean Duffin and Jamie McCann eventually sealing the win.
Lámh Dhearg came from two points down at half-time to defeat St. John’s by 1-15 to 0-13. Ryan Murray and Conor Murray were the main men in the second-half for the winners, finishing with a combined tally of seven points from play.
Naomh Éanna and Rossa played out 1-8 to 0-11 draw, with Michael Armstrong keeping Rossa’s hopes of making the quarter-final alive with a late leveller.
Portglenone had to dig deep to defeat Ahogill by 0-15 to 0-12. Substitutes Paddy Kelly and Ciarán McKenna made a big impact, scoring three points that ultimately made the difference.
A last-gasp point from Patrick McCafferty earned Gort na Móna a 1-9 apiece draw with Tír na nÓg Randalstown, while Naomh Bríd enjoyed a convincing 2-17 to 0-14 win over St Ergnats, Moneyglass.
Cavan
Ramor United got the defence of their Cavan SFC title off to a strong start with a convincing victory over Kingscourt Stars at Kingspan Breffni on Friday. Goals from Jack Brady and Sean Keoghan proved decisive as Ramor ran out 2-11 to 1-9 victors.
On Saturday, Cavan Gaels avenged their ACFL Division 1 Final defeat to Crosserlough by edging a hard-fought battle. A converted mark from Andy Graham ultimately sealed the 0-14 to 0-13 win.
Also on Saturday, goals from Cormac O’Reilly, Niall McGahern and Enda O’Reilly did the business for Mullahoran as they swept to a 3-12 to 0-14 win over Ballinagh.
On Sunday, Laragh United enjoyed a convincing 3-17 to 0-13 win over last year’s Intermediate champions, Butlersbridge.
Conor Finnegan’s 50th minute goal was decisive as Lacken edged out Lavey by 1-11 to 0-13, while the biggest upset of the weekend saw Killygarry defeat last year’s runners-up, Gowna, by 2-11 to 1-12 at Kingspan Breffni.
Clare
Smith O’Briens pulled off the shock result of the weekend in the Clare SHC, defeating last year’s beaten finalists, Inagh-Kilnamona, by 2-15 to 0-20 with goals by Keith Stritch and David O’Shea proving decisive for the Killaloe club.
Defending champions, Ballyea, had to hold off a strong challenge from Clarecastle before running out 0-21 to 1-14 winners.
A late Killian Bane goal earned Feakle a 2-16 apiece draw with Newmarket in a hotly contested game of hurling.
A late Daithi O’Connell goal proved decisive as Wolfe Tones edged out Crusheen by 1-19 to 1-18, Clonlara defeated Whitegate by 1-20 to 0-19, Cratloe had a convincing 2-23 to 0-16 win over Broadford, Clooney-Quin were too strong for Kilmaley, winning by 0-26 to 1-9, while Éire Óg defeated Scariff by 4-16 to 2-16.
Cork
Luke Connolly was the hero for Nemo Rangers in their thrilling Cork Premier SFC win over Castlehaven, scoring 2-4.
With the game level and time almost up, Connolly intercepted the ball in the middle of the pitch and tore through the heart of the ‘Haven defence before finishing emphatically to the back of the net for the game’s decisive score.
Reigning champions, St. Finbarr’s, enjoyed another emphatic victory, beating Carrigaline by 3-19 to 1-11. Brian Hayes and Ethan Twomey did most of the damage, scoring a combined 3-6 from play.
Carbery Rangers secured their place in the knockout stages of the competition courtesy of a 2-11 to 1-12 win over Éire Óg. In a match of fine margins, the decisive goal was Darragh Hayes’ superbly finished second-half goal.
Last year’s beaten finalists, Clonakility, battled to a 0-12 to 1-9 draw with Newcestown thanks to a 61st minute equalising point from Joe Grimes.
Nemo Rangers enjoyed a convincing 3-15 to 0-10 win over St. Vincent’s with the goals coming from Conor O’Donovan, Eddie Mangan, and Ciaran Dalton.
Andrew Cotter was the hero for Douglas as he converted a free-kick from all of 60 metres in the seventh minute of injury-time to secure a 0-16 to 1-13 draw with Ballincollig.
Mallow are through to the knockout phase along with St. Finbarr’s, Nemo Rangers, and Carbery Rangers thanks to a 2-11 to 0-7 win over Valley Rovers with the goals coming from Kieran O’Sullivan and Sean McDonnell.
Dublin
The evergreen David Treacy scored 15 points as Cuala defeated Na Fianna by 1-25 to 1-15 in the Dublin Senior Hurling Championship.
Na Fianna were the better side for much of the first half, opening up a three-point lead thanks to goals from Sean Baxter and Donal Burke.
But Cuala drew level by half-time and a second-half goal by Liam Murphy gave them the momentum they needed to pull away in the final quarter.
Meanwhile, St. Oliver Plunketts defeated St. Judes by 2-19 to 0-15, Kilmacud Crokes defeated St. Brigid's by 0-25 to 1-15, and St. Vincents defeated Craobh Chiarain by 2-20 to 2-13.
Galway
Reigning champions Mountbellew-Moylough made it two wins from two in Group 2 of the Galway SFC thanks to a convincing 3-16 to 0-11 win over An Cheathrú Rua with the goals coming from Barry McHugh (2) and Patrick Kelly.
Also in Group 2, Salthill-Knocknacarra proved too strong for Annaghdown, winning by 1-18 to 1-8, while Bearna stormed to a 4-12 to 0-7 victory over St. James.
In Group 1, Corofin maintained their winning ways by outclassing 2021 Intermediate champions, Naomh Anna, Leitir Móir on a scoreline of 3-24 to 0-9 while Tuam Stars defeated An Spideál by 3-24 to 0-9.
In Group 3, Milltown defeated St. Michael’s by 3-7 to 1-10 and Claregalway overcame Caherlistrane by 3-12 to 0-9.
Owen Gallagher was the star for Moycullen as they defeated Oughterard by 1-17 to 0-14, while goals from Johnny Heaney, Enda Kelly, and Dara Walsh helped Killannin to a 3-7 to 1-12 win over Monieva/Abbey.
Kerry
Austin Stacks enjoyed a hard-fought 1-15 to 1-14 Tralee derby victory over Kerins O’Rahilly’s in the Kerry Club Championship. The key score of the first-half was a Stacks goal, converted by Gearoid Fitzgerald, that gave them a 1-4 to 0-3 lead by the first-half water-break.
O’Rahillys took over in the second-quarter though, limiting Stacks to a single point, and drawing level by half-time, 0-8 to 1-5.
Stacks looked like they were a in a good position when they forged three points clear in the second-half, but a Gavin O’Brien goal in the 55th minute put the game back in the melting pot.
It was Stacks who found the finishing burst though, with a point from substitute Cian Purcell giving them a two-point cushion that was enough for them to see the game out.
Templenoe showed a lot of grit to grind out a 0-10 to 1-6 win over Dr. Crokes who have now lost two from two.
Killian Spillane, Aidan Crowley, and Gavin Crowley were the key men for the winners, scoring a combined total of eight points.
Dingle revived their championship challenge with a hard-fought 1-10 to 2-6 win over Na Gaeil. The game was level coming into the final quarter, and ultimately it was Barry O’Sullivan’s 58th minute converted free that settled it.
A last gasp punched point by Griffin Wharton secured a 1-14 to 0-17 draw for Kenmare Shamrocks against Spa. They had to show a lot of character to take anything from the game because they lost county star, Stephen O’Brien, after 28 minutes when he was given a second yellow card.
Offaly
The Offaly SFC is now down to the knock-out stages. Reigning champions Tullamore are straight through to the semi-finals after a convincing 2-14 to 0-6 win over Cappincur.
Rhode are also through to the semi-finals after a similarly decisive result, beating Clara by 2-13 to 0-5.
They now await the winners of the quarter-finals where Ferbane will play Clara and Edenderry will face Shamrocks.
Sligo
Former Sligo forward, Stephen Coen, made a triumphant return to club football on Saturday for St. Mary’s 10 months to the day after he underwent surgery for a ruptured cruciate ligament.
He came off the bench to score two goals that proved decisive in his club’s 2-13 to 1-11 win over Tubbercurry.
Meanwhile, Calry/St Joseph’s defeated Curry by 0-18 to 0-9, Tourlestrane defeated Coolaney/Mullinabreena by 0-15 to 2-7, and Coolera-Strandhill defeated St. Farnan’s by 2-15 to 0-17.
Tipperary
Reigning champions Loughmore-Castleiney enjoyed a comfortable 3-14 to 0-8 win over Moycarkey-Borris in Round Two of the Tipperary SFC. A Cian Hennessy goal gave them early momentum, and two more majors from Liam McGrath and Conor Ryan made the game safe in the second-half.
Two second-half goals proved decisive for last year’s beaten finalists, Clonmel Commercials, who defeated Upperchurch-Drombane by 2-11 to 0-9. ‘The Church’ were only two behind at the break, but Commercials kicked on in the second-half with goals from Sean O’Connor and Conal Kennedy.
Kilsheelan-Kilcash revived their championship ambitions with a convincing 3-15 to 0-11 win over Drom-Inch with the goals coming from Mark Stokes, Paul Maher, and Bill Maher.
Moyle Rovers are assured of a county quarter-final spot thanks to their 0-13 to 1-6 win over Rockwell Rovers with Liam Boland doing most of the damage on the scoreboard.
JK Brackens had a hard-fought 1-13 to 1-10 win over Ballyporeen, Arravale Rovers defeated Éire Óg Annacarthy by 2-9 to 0-11, Killenaule defeated Cahir by 2-13 to 1-8, and Aherlow and Cahir played out a 2-9 to 1-12 draw.
Waterford
Dan Shanahan, still going strong at 45 years of age, helped Lismore to a 2-20 to 0-18 Waterford SHC Round 3 win over Dunhill by scoring a point and assisting three more.
Lismore were without injured stars Maurice Shanahan and Carthach Daly, but they still had Jack Prendergast who hit 1-13 in a man of the match performance.
Newly appointed Waterford manager, Davy Fitzgerald, took in the action as 14-man Abbeyside defeated Tallow by 2-20 to 3-14 in a very entertaining tussle.
County men Michael Kiely and Michael O’Halloran scored three poins each for the winners, while Mark Ferncome score 1-12 (0-11f).
Goals from Jamie Barron, Shane O’Meara and Sean Walsh helped Fourmilewater to a convincing 3-24 to 0-19 win over Clonea, while De La Salle outclassed Passage by 0-24 to 0-12.
Wexford
