GMIT 1-19 TUS Midwest 1-12

There will be an all Galway Electric Ireland Fitzgibbon Cup semi-final following NUIG's 1-22 to 2-13 success over WIT at Dangan.

It means NUIG now face cross town rivals GMIT, who earlier overcame TUS Midwest 1-19 to 1-12 in Carnmore.

Once again Evan Niland was in brilliant scoring form for Jeffrey Lynskey's NUIG contributing a 0-14 haul, including two points from play.

Cian Lynch occupied a central role clipping three points for NUIG, who took command early on.

Fionn McDonagh struck a goal for NUIG, who led by 1-10 to 1-5 at the turnaround with Stephen Bennett replying with a major for WIT from a penalty.

After the restart Bennett added a second goal from a penalty, but Niland and Mark Kennedy registered vital points for NUIG.

GMIT delivered a purposeful performance to book a place in the last four.

An excellent first half from the home team set the tone as GMIT went in at the break armed with a 1-12 to 0-7 lead.

Kevin Cooney was sharp contributing eight opening period points, including four from play, as GMIT dominated.

AJ Willis pounced to score an important goal for GMIT with Paddy Commins also effective.

After the restart GMIT remained in the ascendancy, but TUS Midwest did launch a rally with Billy Seymour netting a goal.

Conor Gardiner impressed for GMIT rifling over an important point as they marched into the penultimate round.
