In the Championship the importance and relevance of momentum is always highlighted.

Following a glorious and goal laden Joe McDonagh Cup campaign, Antrim will be hoping to deliver another vibrant performance in Belfast against Cork.

Kieran Kingston's charges endured disappointing losses to Waterford in the Allianz Hurling League Final and to Limerick and Clare in the Munster SHC.

A stirring win over Waterford at Walsh Park ressurected Cork's campaign with a further 3-30 struck when Tipperary were trounced in Thurles.

Suddenly possibilities exist for Cork, who will need to afford Antrim the utmost respect.

That is because of the attacking threat being provided by the prolific Conal Cunning, Ciarán Clarke, Seán Ellot, and Conor Johnston.

Throughout the year Darren Gleeson's well organised team has shown an admirable ability to net goals at key stages in games.

At the opposite end of the field Cork will be hoping that Conor Lehane can continue to showcase his considerable talents.

Lehane has registered 0-13 from play in Cork's four matches so far, while Alan Connolly's 4-2 contribution is another encouraging sign.

In Tralee Kerry, beaten in a thrilling Joe McDonagh Cup final, host Wexford.

It has been a strange campaign for Wexford, who were dynamic and defiant when beating Kilkenny at Nowlan Park.

That was a significant victory for Darragh Egan's charges with Lee Chin an instrumental figure.

Rory O'Connor and Conor McDonald are other impressive forwards for Wexford, who were satisfied to earn a top three finish in Leinster.

Stephen Molumphy's Kerry produced a gutsy comeback mission in Croke Park, but Antrim just did enough to secure silverware.

Padraig Boyle has been in brilliant form for Kerry scoring 3-64 in six matches, while Shane Conway and Jordan Conway are capable hurlers too.
