It is getting interesting now. On Sunday afternoon in Thurles Ballyhale Shamrocks, the most decorated club of the lot, face St Thomas', who continue to impress in the west.

Undoubtedly the recent knee injury suffered by Thomas' Shane Cooney is a significant blow for the Galway standard bearers.

Thomas' have won six county titles since 2012, famously claiming an All Ireland in 2013, but Ballyhale remain a formidable force.

While late heroics were necessary in the Leinster semi-final against St Rynagh's, Shamrocks cruised to a convincing win in the decider.

With TJ Reid, Adrian Mullen, Colin Fennelly, and Eoin Cody involved Shamrocks have an effective forward unit.

Conor Cooney has led by example for Thomas, clipping 0-11 in the Galway decider, while David Burke remains a crafty operator.

Dominant in Waterford for so long Ballygunner's mission is to flourish on the Munster and national stages.

Down south the statement success over Kilmallock confirmed Ballygunner's class.

There is no shortage of inter-county experience with the gifted Dessie Hutchinson a capable performer.

Pauric Mahony mined nine points in the Kilmallock match, while Stephen O'Keeffe and Barry Coughlan's relevance shouldn't be underestimated either.

One thing is for certain, though, Ballygunner will afford Slaughtneil the utmost respect.

The Ulster Club Championship is highly competitive with Slaughtneil's victory against Ballycran underlining their ability to perform under pressure.

Cormac O'Doherty is an accurate forward, Brendan Rogers continues to excel, while Chrissy McKaigue and Shane McGuigan are other prominent figures for Slaughtneil.
