Munster claim Interpro Wheelchair Hurling Title
Munster claimed their second successive M. Donnelly GAA wheelchair hurling interprovincial championship last weekend after claiming a narrow 3-2 victory against Connacht.
After the initial round-robin games, Munster and Connacht were paired in the final while Leinster and Ulster played in the third-fourth play-off.
In the third-fourth play-off, Ulster accounted for Leinster, winning easily by four goals to one.
In the final, holders Munster retained their title after coming from a two goal deficit to win 3-2 thanks to a hat-trick of goals from Player of the Tournament, James McCarthy.
Speaking after the event, GAA National Inclusion and Integration Committee Chairperson, Brian Armitage said: "The tournament was a huge success. It wouldn't have been possible without the continued support of title sponsor - Martin Donnelly. The generosity of the many volunteers from our GAA Units - the National Inclusion and Integration Committee, the Connacht Inclusion and Integration Committee, Sligo GAA, the Sligo Inclusion and Integration Committee and Calry/St Joseph's GAA Club, was tremendous not only today, but also in the weeks leading up to the tournament.
"The support we received from the Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership (SSRP) and our hosts, I.T Sligo was immense, in particular Deirdre Lavin and Shane Hayes (SSRP) and Daniel Furey (I.T Sligo). Finally, I'd like to pay a special thank you to Christy Browne (Galway) for giving his time freely, to not only referee at these Finals, but during the Interprovincial Wheelchair Hurling League as well."
