Tipperary GAA will hold a collection at Sunday's rescheduled SHC match between Clonoulty-Rossmore and Kilruane MacDonaghs for the Order of Malta.

Last month the highly regarded Dillon Quirke died when the clubs met at FBD Semple Stadium with Tipperary GAA PRO Jonathan Cullen organising this weekend's fundraiser.

"August was a very tough month in Tipperary GAA circles with the sad and tragic passing of Dillon," he says. "We wanted to maybe do something positive, to maybe bring something positive out of all of this. We asked ourselves what we could do?

"We spoke to both clubs, it was decided, if at all possible, to run a fundraiser, a bucket collection at the rematch between Clonoulty and Kilruane.

"Both clubs were in favour, obviously the Order of Malta being a voluntary service, every few bob they get is greatly appreciated. The few bob that they will get will be greatly appreciated by them. The work and commitment that they have given to the GAA over many years in Tipperary is greatly appreciated by us."

Tipperary GAA has acknowledged the significant contribution made by the Order of Malta at matches in the Premier county throughout the decades.

"On the night that Dillon passed away the Order of Malta were very present in Semple Stadium, they were very helpful," Cullen adds.

"They did everything they possibly could have done for Dillon to help him on the night. That was recognised by the clubs, us as a County Board, and by the supporters too. It is fitting and very appropriate that we should try to do this to help the Order of Malta going forward with their finances."

A GoFundMe page has also been set up to facilitate donations from individuals who may not be able to attend the game but would like to donate. Click here for the link to the donation page.
