"We knew Waterford would have their homework done on, us but our execution today was absolutely incredible," Limerick's Diarmuid Byrnes reflected following another All Ireland triumph at Croke Park.

Byrnes was delighted by the manner in which the green and white team prevailed at Croke Park.

"Every chance we got, lads took it and that was down to the last day, against Galway we did everything right, but the execution - we were hitting wides, but the lads were unbelievable today," Byrnes remarked.

Limerick adapted to the different environment in 2020 claiming Munster and All Ireland glory in recent weeks.

"Listen, this is all new to everyone," Byrnes commented. "There were 82,000-plus people here in 2018 and last year for the semi-final as well, so it was a new experience for ourselves and Waterford and it was about trying to manage that in new challenge in the last couple of weeks, but we embraced it, thankfully.

"What they're going to do with the cup, I don't know, but I know it's in Limerick spiritually anyway.

"We're lucky we had the opportunity to bring this sport to people back home and bring some joy.

"I know there's 10s of thousands of Limerick people. My father rang me before the match and he was like, 'You might not have the crowd today, but there's 10s of thousands of Limerick supporters around the world supporting ye, so we know that too."
