Colm McGurk appointed Derry hurling manager
Colm McGurk has been appointed Derry senior hurling manager.
Former Derry dual-star Colm McGurk has been appointed as the Oak Leaf County's senior hurling manager.
The Erins Own Lavey club-man was a member of the 1993 Derry All-Ireland winning senior football team, and also won an Ulster title with the county hurlers in 2000.
At club level he won one All-Ireland, two Ulster, and four Derry senior football championships, and 12 Derry senior hurling championships.
“Colm was a dual-player who has represented his club and county in both hurling and football at the very highest level and is someone who brings a wealth of knowledge of the game of hurling,” the Derry County Board’s statement read.
“We are confident that Colm and his management team can help usher in a positive new chapter for Derry hurling, building on the excellent work at grassroots level within our clubs.
"Following on from a positive campaign in 2016, John A Mullan has been reappointed to the position of minor hurling manager.
"We wish Colm, John A, their management and backroom teams, and all our players the very best of luck for the 2017 season."
