Cathal Mannion voted GAA.ie Hurler of the Week
Galway's Cathal Mannion is the GAA.ie Hurler of the Week.
Galway’s Cathal Mannion is this Week’s GAA.ie Hurler of the Week.
The fleet-footed midfielder/forward received 3,736 votes from the public ahead of Waterford’s Dessie Hutchinson (2,767) and Clare’s Aidan McCarthy (2,195).
Cathal Mannion (Galway)
Mannion has been in red-hot form all year and continued that trend by inspiring Galway to victory over Cork. He scored 1-2 from play, and drove his team forward time and again with his electric pace and very clever decision-making.
Dessie Hutchinson (Waterford)
Hutchinson was on fire for Waterford in their very impressive win over Tipperary on Sunday. He scored 2-2 from play, and both goals were of the very highest quality. All the more impressive when you consider he was being marked by the ultra-sticky Cathal Barrett.
Aidan McCarthy (Clare)
Clare as a team played very well in victory over Kilkenny, but the performance of McCarthy stood out nonetheless. He hit three points from wing-back, and is the epitome of the modern wing-back who is as comfortable attacking as he is defending.
