Allianz Hurling League Division 1 Group B

KILKENNY 3-21 CARLOW 0-9

Kilkenny claimed a second Allianz Hurling League win on the spin at Netwatch Cullen Park.

Having stormed to an impressive success over Dublin in the opening round, Brian Cody's charges dominated against Carlow.

The Cats had clipped five early points courtesy of Alan Murphy, Eoin Murphy, and Bill Sheehan before Carlow's Michael Malone was sent off after only eight minutes.

That was a significant setback for the locals, who leaked a goal in the 11th minute as James Maher rattled the Carlow net.

Ahead by 1-12 to 0-5 at the turnaround, Kilkenny continued to dictate the contest in the second half.

Further goals from Ger Aylward and Richie Hogan sealed a convincing victory for Kilkenny, who face an interesting encounter against Wexford on February 16.

Scorers for Kilkenny: Alan Murphy 0-8 (6fs), Richie Hogan 1-3, James Maher 1-2, Ger Aylward 1-1, Walter Walsh and Niall Brassil 0-2 each, Eoin Murphy 0-1 (f), Bill Sheehan 0-1, Aidan Nolan 0-1.

Scorers for Carlow: Marty Kavanagh 0-6 (5fs), Chris Nolan, Edward Byrne, and Ted Joyce 0-1 each.
