2018 AIB All-Ireland champions Cuala were eliminated from the Leinster Championship, after a narrow one-point loss, against Carlow outfit St. Mullins.

It was 0-9 to 0-8 in favour of Cuala at half-time, but St. Mullins scored a goal just after half-time to give themselves hope.

The Carlow champions registered their second goal in the 56th minute and were three points ahead approaching stoppage time.

They held on for a one-point win and can look forward to a Leinster semi-final. They may be hoping to emulate fellow Carlow side Mount Leinster Rangers, who won the 2013 Leinster Championship.

Reigning All-Ireland champions Ballyhale Shamrocks also booked their place in the semi-finals, after a nine-point victory over Clonkill, in TEG Cusack Park.

Eoin Cody was outstanding for the Kilkenny side, scoring 3-4 from play after a fantastic individual performance. Brendan Murtagh was also outstanding for Clonkill and he scored a goal in the sixth minute to level the tie.

Cody scored two first half goals, as Ballyhale held a 2-9 to 1-5 lead at the interval. The same  player completed his hat-trick just after the restart and Henry Shefflin’s side held out for a nine point victory.

Rathdowney/Errill claimed a comprehensive 18-point victory over St. Rynagh’s in Sunday’s other quarter-final.

The Laois champions held a slender 0-9 to 0-6 advantage at half-time but were completely in control of the second half and pushed on for a comprehensive win.

Ross King (2), Mark Kavanagh and James Ryan all found the net for the Laois side in the second half, as they booked their place in the last four of the competition.

Rathdowney/Errill will face St. Mullins in the semi-final, with Ballyhale Shamrocks set to meet Wexford champions St. Martins.
