Joe McDonagh Cup

Meath v Antrim, Pairc Tailteann, 3pm

Despite being relegated from Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League Antrim could still reflect on some plucky spring displays.

The hard working Saffrons were unfortunate in a number of games not to take a scalp. That is why Antrim feel that they can make a bold bid for honours in the Joe McDonagh Cup.

Meath hurled in the Leinster Round Robin series last year beating Kerry before losing to Laois and Westmeath.

Those matches, though, demonstrated that Meath can compete. In Division 2A of the Allianz League Meath won two and lost three with a couple of those by very narrow margins.

Two years ago Meath shaded a thrilling Christy Ring Cup final battle against Antrim. It could be similarly tight on Saturday afternoon in Navan.
