Seán McDonnell and Aaron Griffin also notched goals for UL, who advanced to the quarter-final stage with the minimum of fuss.

MTU Cork knocked out ATU Sligo, eventually emerging 3-12 to 2-7 victors.

A lively first half featured two goals from St Loman's Fola Ayorinde for ATU Sligo with Dylan O'Connor netting for MTU Cork.

The teams went in level at the break, 1-7 to 2-4, but MTU Cork edged it after the restart.
