Limerick and Louth secured promotion to Division Two of the Allianz Football League following a dramatic afternoon on Sunday.

Billy Lee's sterling work with Limerick was rewarded with a stirring 1-16 to 0-14 win over Fermanagh.

Josh Ryan's 24th minute goal was a critical score as Limerick went in at the interval armed with a 1-8 to 0-8 advantage.

After the interval Fermanagh reduced the gap to one point, but Cian Sheehan responded with a score for Limerick.

Ryan finished with a 1-6 haul, while Hugh Bourke was another influential figure for Limerick, contributing four points.

Darragh McGurn was effective for Fermanagh, while Ciaran Corrigan and Conall Jones also enjoyed encouraging moments, but Limerick prevailed.

In Aughrim Louth claimed a second promotion in a row by beating Wicklow 2-17 to 1-13.

Ciaran Downey's splendid goal ensured Louth were 1-6 to 0-7 ahead at the interval.

Sum Mulroy was accurate from frees for Louth, who pulled clear before conceding a goal to Wicklow's Kevin Quinn.

Substitutes Eoghan Callaghan and Ciaran Byrne clipped important points, while Tom Jackson provided the insurance goal for Mickey Harte's improving team.

Laois suffered relegation to Division Four following a disappointing 2-17 to 1-13 loss against Longford at MW Hire O'Moore Park.

Longford, managed by Laois native Billy O'Loughlin, produced a gutsy display in a crucial encounter.

Dessie Reynolds was influential for the visitors driving forward to score 1-2, while Joe Hagan contributed 1-6.

Mark Barry netted a first half goal for Laois, but Longford, with Hagan bagging a goal, still led 1-10 to 1-5 at the turnaround.

Laois squandered plenty of chances throughout with Reynolds' 48th minute goal sealing Longford's success.

Westmeath produced a powerful second half performance to defeat Antrim 1-13 to 0-12 at Corrigan Park.

Trailing 0-8 to 0-4 at the break, Westmeath subsequently went five behind, but John Heslin scored a goal from a 49th minute penalty.

Heslin finished with 1-5, while Luke Loughlin made an impact with two points in the second half.

In Division Four Patrick O'Connor scored two early goals as Sligo defeated Leitrim 2-16 to 2-10 at Markievicz Park.

Leitrim had Keith Beirne sent off in the 26th minute, while Sligo's Seán Carrabine was also red carded in the second half.

Two O'Connor majors gave Sligo a dream start, but Jack Heslin and Beirne replied with Leitrim goals as they edged 2-3 to 2-1 ahead followning a Ryan O'Rourke point.

Sligo led 2-6 to 2-5 at half-time with substitute Nathan Rooney and David Quinn clipping neat scores in the closing stages to seal the victory.
