David Clifford made it 5-16 in three Sigerson Cup games as UL defeated Queens University in Abbotstown.

Clfford struck 2-4 for UL, who had to overcome a stern test against a determined Queens side.

With Conor Turbitt excelling Queens were 0-8 to 1-4 in front at half-time.

UL, though, remained patient with Clifford and Emmet McMahon key performers for Declan Brouder's charges.

Red Óg Murphy's goal from a penalty proved to be the decisive score as DCU defeated Ulster University in Sigerson Cup thriller.

Ulster University enjoyed a productive opening period to lead 0-8 to 0-3 at half-time, but DCU came storming back.

Mark Barry's goal gave them an injection of hope, but Niall Loughlin responded with a major for Ulster University, who then were 1-10 to 1-7 in front.

Murphy rattled the Ulster University net from a penalty and suddenly DCU were ahead, 2-9 to 1-11.

Darragh Canavan bagged a goal for Ulster University, but DCU prevailed.

Despite a knee injury suffered by Mayo star Tommy Conroy, NUIG still managed to secure a hard earned 2-8 to 1-8 over Letterkenny IT in Dangan.

A tight match was decided late on by a Tomo Culhane goal as the Galway forward landed the decisive blow to steer Maurice Sheridan's team into the last four.

With Matthew Tierney prominent NUIG led 1-5 to 0-4 at the break following an Eoghan Kelly goal.

After the restart Jack McSharry replied with a Letterkenny IT goal, while Gavin Durcan was sent off for NUIG.

The home team, though, struck back with Culhane netting a goal as the talented Tierney remained an influential figure.

Tony Brosnan was in excellent form, registering 2-7, as MTU Kerry defeated Maynooth University 4-15 to 0-7 in Tralee.

Early goals from Jack Savage and Tomás Ó Sé guided MTU Kerry 2-3 to 0-1 ahead.

In the second half Brosnan, who had created Ó Sé's major, was a potent threat for Aidan O'Mahony's team.

Brosnan added two further goals for a highly impressive MTU Kerry, who are gaining confidence and momentum.
