At this exact stage a year ago Monaghan posted a morale boosting triumph in chilly Castlebar.

For the past number of years Mayo have stuttered in the early rounds of the League before finding form and eking out victories when their survival was threatened.

Monaghan are a consistent Division One team for several campaigns and will relish the opportunity to examine Mayo's resolve.
